According to Foot Mercato, Everton are interested in signing Lyon’s Kenny Tete this summer.
Djibril Sidibe has spent this season on loan from Monaco but the report claims that he will return to France this summer. The Toffees are looking to bring in another right-back and Tete is said to be one of their options.
Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot is said to be Marcel Brands’ preferred option to battle for the right-back spot with Seamus Coleman next season. However, Everton fans seem to disagree.
The Goodison Park faithful would rather prefer the Lyon man over Dalot and to be fair to them, a move for the Dutchman makes a lot more sense.
Tete has a lot more experience under his belt than Dalot having played over 150 times for club and country. The Dutchman has been very impressive for Lyon over the last two years and he would suit the Toffees very well.
At 24, Tete is a long-term option too, just like Dalot but more reliable. The Dutchman will likely be ahead of Coleman should he join the club and he could nail down a place for himself for a long time to help Everton reach their ambitions.
Tete’s injury record is brilliant as well. He has missed just five games since the start of the 2017/18 season compared to the 39 games that Dalot has missed since April 2018.

The biggest positive for Everton with respect to a potential transfer is that Tete has less than a year left on his contract. The Dutch international will likely be available for a bargain fee and Brands, like everyone else, loves a discount.
All the signs point towards Tete over Dalot and Everton fans feel that the Dutchman is an upgrade on Coleman and even Jonjoe Kenny, who is set to return to the club after his loan spell.
