Everton manager Sam Allardyce has told The Telegraph that he has the backing of the club’s chiefs.
The Toffees are not in good form at the moment and are struggling for positive results in the Premier League.
Fans of the Merseyside outfit are not happy with the former Newcastle United and West Ham United manager, and want him gone in the summer of 2018 (click here to read more).
The Everton fans will be disappointed, as Allardyce has revealed that he has the backing of the club’s chiefs, although the former Sunderland boss has admitted that he knows that he has to win matches.
“Whatever Farhad (Moshiri) says is very positive, but I am under no illusions about my position,” Allardyce told The Telegraph. “There is no point beating around the bush.”
Allardyce added: “There is great backing from the owners but I have to win matches to reassure them that I am the right man for the job.
“While that support is there, it is my responsibility to alleviate the pressure on everybody – him included – by winning.”
New manager in the summer?
Allardyce is a very good manager who knows the Premier League inside out, but the performances and results of Everton in recent weeks have not been great.
The Toffees’ defensive football has not gone down well with the fans, and it would not come as a huge surprise if the Merseyside outfit do appoint a new manager in the summer of 2018.
