Everton midfielder Andre Gomes has started the season very slowly, despite being a quality player.

Everton fans may have reason to be becoming increasingly concerned by Andre Gomes’s early form this season.
Gomes was one of Everton’s key players last term, and his move to Goodison Park was deservedly made permanent this summer.
But the Portuguese midfielder has badly struggled so far this term.
Gomes looks a shadow of his former self without Idrissa Gueye alongside him, and his display at Aston Villa was woeful.
Gomes’s passing was well short of the level required and he was also guilty of being very poor positionally, when Everton were defending.
Gomes has, of course, proven before that he is an outstanding talent, and there can be few questions over his quality.
It is also far too early to be writing Gomes off, as every player can have dips in form.

But Gomes is very much a confidence player – and when his form dipped badly at Barcelona he never recovered from that set-back.
Everton simply cannot afford for the £22 million man (Sky Sports) to take his time to find his best form again, as he is so imperative for them.
And Gomes’s early season performances must be becoming a worry for Marco Silva, with the pressure building on the midfielder to improve in the coming weeks.
