Everton left-back Lucas Digne has been called up to the France squad for their upcoming friendly and their two Euro 2020 qualifiers.
The reigning world champions will host Bolivia on Sunday 2 June before facing Turkey on Saturday 8 June and Andorra three days later, both games away.
France have won both of their Euro 2020 qualifying games so far, with comprehensive wins – 4-1 and 4-0 – over Moldova and Iceland respectively putting them level on points with Turkey.
With 35 Premier League games under his belt yielding four goals, four assists (Transfermarkt) and great all-round contributions for the team, Digne is firmly one of the first names on Marco Silva’s teamsheet.
The 25-year-old only joined Everton last summer but he has firmly become a fan favourite at Goodison Park, going on to win the Fans’ Player of the Season accolade as well as sharing the Players’ Player of the Season award with midfielder Idrissa Gueye.
Taking to Twitter after being called up by Didier Deschamps, Digne paid homage to both club and country with a tweet which translates from French as “very happy and proud to have been called up to finish the season in blue”:
