Everton left back Lucas Digne was again left out on Sunday afternoon as the Toffees lost 3-1 away at Crystal Palace, heaping the pressure on Rafael Benitez.

The Toffees were 2-0 down at Selhurst Park as Conor Gallagher and James Tomkins had Palace rocking.

Salomon Rondon brought Everton back into the game but Gallagher ended it, giving Palace a 3-1 victory.

Digne left out of Benitez’s squad again

Benitez is under enough pressure as it is, but he isn’t helping himself in the eyes of Everton fans.

Sunday’s defeat means it’s just five points from a possible 30 for Benitez. The Everton crowd weren’t enamoured with him in the first place; now they’re baying for blood.

Benitez has now decided to drop Digne from his Everton squad.

The French left back has been up and down this season, but at his best, he is one of Everton’s top performers.

It’s not even that Benitez has just benched Digne; he isn’t even in the matchday squad.

For whatever reason, Benitez just isn’t having Digne right now – and with few other left back options, Everton are being left short.

Everton fans respond to Digne tweet

Speaking after Everton’s 3-1 defeat, Digne took to Twitter to send a message to angry fans.

Digne called on his teammates to ‘fight again’ and show some resolve as they did against Arsenal last week.

Everton take on Chelsea on Thursday night, but it’s unclear whether Digne will be involved.

Everton fans have been responding to Digne’s tweet by begging him to stay.

Others predict that Benitez will be gone soon, hoping that he will go and Digne will be back in.

Something has got to give. Benitez has an alarming lack of support from Everton fans, but if he clings on until January, Digne could be on his way out.
