Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Liverpool’s Dominic Solanke both scored braces for England’s under-21 side yesterday.

Everton fans have praised Dominic Calvert-Lewin for taking a penalty off Liverpool’s Dominic Solanke, while playing for England’s under-21 side.

Calvert-Lewin only came on the pitch as a late substitute for England yesterday, but he stopped his Liverpool counterpart from having a chance to complete his hat-trick from the spot.

Solanke had hit the back of the net twice in England’s win over Denmark, but the Everton man wanted to get his name on the scoresheet.

And Everton fans were delighted to see Calvert-Lewin show such a selfish streak at the expense of Solanke.

In the end both Calvert-Lewin and Solanke scored a brace, as England completed a comprehensive 5-1 victory.

The Everton man has been in outstanding form for his country at under-21 level, and appears to be pushing for a starting place at Goodison Park.

Solanke, meanwhile, may have to leave Liverpool on loan in January, as he has struggled for game time so far.
