The Republic of Ireland winger left the Toffees faithful confused on Sunday afternoon…

Everton winger Aiden McGeady was the source of bewilderment and frustration for Everton fans on Twitter on Sunday afternoon.

Indeed, the 29-year-old looked a decent player for the Republic of Ireland against England – which left Toffees supporters asking why he doesn’t look like one at Goodison Park…

McGeady struggled for game time on Merseyside last season and his form has been under par for quite some time.

As Opta stats show, McGeady was only given 887 minutes of Premier League action by Everton boss Roberto Martinez last term.

That no doubt had something to do with what the Republic of Ireland winger produced while on the pitch for the Toffees: in 16 appearances, McGeady scored just once and created 17 chances.

To register two assists in those 17 created chances is relatively impressive but Everton were clearly looking for more.

And that’s exactly why supporters were so bewildered by the 29-year-old’s display against England. It may have been a bore draw and a ‘waste of an afternoon’ but McGeady at least looked like a player for Ireland. Frustratingly so for Everton fans on Twitter…
