Everton fans joke about Jordan Henderson ban ahead of Merseyside derby

The Liverpool captain will miss next Sunday’s derby following his red card at Watford, and some Toffees fans are gutted about his absence.

Next weekend’s Merseyside derby is shaping up to be a cracker.

Everton are in good form, having lost only once in seven Premier League games and going into the encounter on the back of a 1-0 win over Cardiff City and a 0-0 draw with Chelsea.

Marco Silva’s charges currently sit sixth in the table and will certainly fancy their chances against their bitter rivals.

Not that Liverpool are doing too badly, mind – they’re still unbeaten in the league this season and will host the Toffees having just claimed a 3-0 win at Watford.

It is worth noting that, before the Reds took the lead at Vicarage Road, they looked shaky at the back, which will undoubtedly give Everton fans hope of springing a good result.

Another setback for Liverpool comes in the form of Jordan Henderson’s suspension, the team captain getting sent off for two yellow cards against the Hornets.

The 28-year-old has been hit with a one-game ban and will miss the derby, which is supposedly a boost for the blue half of the city.

Judging by the reaction of some Everton fans on Twitter, however, it looks as though they would have preferred Henderson to feature in the derby:
