Manchester United could bring in ex-Everton man Steve Walsh.

Everton fans love director of football Marcel Brands, mostly because he’s spending the club’s money in a much smarter way than predecessor Steve Walsh.

The Toffees brought in Brands last summer, raiding PSV to land a replacement for Walsh, who lasted just two years in the director of football role at Goodison Park.

Walsh’s record with Everton wasn’t impressive. He splashed money on Yannick Bolasie, Ashley Williams, Morgan Schneiderlin, Davy Klaassen, Sandro Ramirez, Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott, with limited returns from those players.

He was unsurprisingly sacked last summer, and he has remained out of football ever since – but a return to the Premier League may be on the cards.

The Daily Mail report that Manchester United have discussed the possibility of bringing in Walsh for their director of football role, aiding Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co.

United are finally moving for a director of football, and Walsh is in line for the role, with his reputation at Leicester City – finding N’Golo Kante, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez – seemingly still strong despite his Everton struggles.

Everton fans have unsurprisingly taken to Twitter after hearing the news, with many unable to control their laughter at United’s potential move, suggesting he will get them relegated after his Goodison Park struggles.
