Aston Villa have appointed Dean Smith as manager. Prior to this, Sam Allardyce expressed an interest in the role.

Everton fans reacted with sympathy towards Aston Villa amid Sam Allardyce expressing his willingness to hold talks over the vacant job.
Villa appointed Dean Smith as manager yesterday, hours after Allardyce claimed he would be open to taking the Villa Park hotseat.
The Toffees dismissed Allardyce from his post as manager after hastily appointing him a year ago.
Allardyce told Talksport yesterday: “I suppose if there is any contact, like anybody else, I would talk to them. I would speak to them.”
He added he has turned down approaches from Chinese clubs and is weighing up his next move.
There were some similarities between Villa’s situation and Everton’s last year.

Everton fired Ronald Koeman after a poor start to the season and they fell short in their pursuit of their top managerial targets, deciding ultimately to take a short-term approach and get Allardyce in.
Villa appear to have failed to hire top targets Thierry Henry and Rui Faria, leaving Allardyce lurking as a potential fall-back option.
Their quick move for Brentford’s Dean Smith quickly scotched fears.
Allardyce gets results and previously led West Ham to promotion, but his style of football divides supporters.
Here is a look at how Everton fans reacted to Allardyce’s comments…
