Everton slipped to a third defeat in their last four Premier League games, as Sheffield United beat them 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Toffees had bounced back from losing to Aston Villa with a win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, but it’s now two defeats in a row having lost to Bournemouth and now Sheffield United.

Marco Silva’s men just couldn’t break down the Blades, and fell behind when Oliver Norwood’s corner hit Yerry Mina and ended up in his own net.

Everton threw a bunch of substitutes on in an effort to find an equaliser, but were hit with the sucker punch as John Lundstram picked out Lys Mousset to stroke home the second.

Silva is under increasing pressure after an unconvincing start to the season, and the goalscoring problems continue, as that’s already Everton’s fifth blank in six Premier League games.

Playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson has endured a woeful start to the season, notching no goals and just one assist as he struggles to find his best form.

The 30-year-old flopped once again on Saturday afternoon, leading to major criticism from fans on Twitter, with some branding him as ‘invisible’ and ‘appalling’.

Many criticised Sigurdsson of hiding when the going gets tough, possibly more than any other Everton player in recent memory, with some wanting him dropped as he is ‘holding Everton back’.
