Everton fans have taken to Twitter in adoration of Andre Gomes’ display against Tottenham.
The Portugal international lined up on Sunday alongside new signings Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure in a midfield three, shining as Carlo Ancelotti’s men recorded a 1-0 win.
Gomes – formerly of Barcelona – completed 94.9% of his passes in the game, including five successful long passes from an attempted five.
It was pleasing to see the £22 million Marco Silva signing back to his best following a turbulent 2019/20 campaign for the midfielder.
Gomes only made 17 league starts in a season that saw him suffer a horrible leg break – coincidentally against Tottenham.

However, alongside two busy midfielders who enjoy doing the dirty work, the silky playmaker was allowed to thrive against Spurs.
The 27-year-old moved the ball with confidence and rarely put his side in difficult situations, helping get the ball to Richarlison, James Rodriguez and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in attack while Allan and Doucoure mopped up behind.

It was definitely pleasing to see him back to his best after suffering such a worrying injury last term.
Some Everton fans certainly enjoyed what they saw judging by their reactions on Twitter…
