Everton’s unconvincing start to the season continued on Saturday afternoon, losing 2-0 at home to newly-promoted Sheffield United.

Marco Silva’s side were looking for a response after losing 3-1 at Bournemouth last weekend, but came up short against the Blades.

Yerry Mina’s unfortunate own goal but Sheffield United ahead, and as Everton pushed for a leveller, Lys Mousset hit Everton on the break to make it 2-0.

The pressure is mounting on boss Marco Silva, with the Toffees really struggling for consistency and, more importantly, goals in the final third.

Outside of beating Wolves 3-2, Everton have scored just two goals in five games, and really need to find a way to break teams down and get the best out of the undoubted attacking talent at Silva’s disposal.

One such player is striker Moise Kean, who was billed as one of the signings of the summer when he arrived from Juventus, but he’s still waiting for his first goal for the club.

The Italian teenager started against Sheffield United but couldn’t get off the mark, leading to some fans admitting they were disappointed with him, noting that he is a million miles away from being a Premier League starter, couldn’t trap a bag of cement and is worse than Oumar Niasse after a ‘terrible’ display.

That didn’t sit well with some more patient Everton fans, who believe that Silva isn’t using him correctly and isn’t giving him good enough service, whilst also reminding supporters that he’s just 19 and needs time to settle.
