Everton’s Yannick Bolasie is out of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Yannick Bolasie is subtituted during the Premier League match between Everton and Manchester United at Goodison Park on January 1, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Everton’s Yannick Bolasie missed a big penalty for his country on Sunday night.

The DR Congo winger, who cost Everton a whopping £30 million three years ago [Sky Sports], fired his effort over the bar during a shootout defeat by Madagascar, who scored their spot-kick soon after to advance into the quarter-final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

It was the last act of a disappointing last 12 months for Bolasie, who was loaned out by the Toffees last summer and his agreement with Aston Villa was terminated as early as January.

Here’s how fans of the Goodison Park club reacted to his penalty miss:

Earlier this month Bolasie intimated that he believed he could make it at Everton under Marco Silva, but that looks very unlikely.

The 30-year-old former Crystal Palace winger is going to have to leave in some capacity, be it on loan or permanently, if he wants to play regular football.

He enjoyed a decent half-season loan with Anderlecht in Belgium during the second half of last term.
