Martin Atkinson’s officiating/VAR use has been heavily criticised by Liverpool and Everton fans.

Everton and Liverpool supporters are in agreement that referee Martin Atkinson shouldn’t officiate their games again after his performance over the weekend.
Liverpool saw Roberto Firmino’s ‘offside’ goal chalked off during their win against Aston Villa on Saturday, with Atkinson in the VAR booth, and then Atkinson produced a poor refereeing display during Everton’s draw against Tottenham yesterday.
It is fair to say that he has come under some serious stick from his weekend performances, as Everton and Liverpool fans have been very critical of him.
When Atkinson chalked off Firmino’s goal, it didn’t end up costing Liverpool because they ended up winning the game very late, with Sadio Mane netting a stoppage-time winner.
But Everton supporters will feel that they were hard done by because they think that they should have been awarded two penalties, especially when Dele Alli handled the ball in the penalty area.

The fact that two rival fans – in Liverpool and Everton – are coming together in being critical of Atkinson, it just shows what an abject performance he put in during his respective games.
Atkinson will now no doubt come under serious pressure when he takes to the field again, as Everton and Liverpool fans will not want to see him officiate their games in the near future.
