Everton fans were excited when he was appointed in 2016, but results this season were so poor that it became crystal clear the Dutchman had to go.
Performances were even more disappointing considering the money spent in the summer, but it is free addition Cuco Martina who has become the symbol of his reign.
Martina was signed as a free agent after he was released by Southampton, and his performances have underwhelmed.
He has played in six games this season in the Premier League and Europa League, in which Everton had won two.
Everton gave Martina a three-year deal in the summer, and it could be hard to move him on.
When Seamus Coleman returns from injury, with Jonjoe Kenny in the mix too, Martina could slip down to third choice right-back.
It may purely be wishful thinking, but fans have been calling on social media for Martina to follow Koeman out of the exit door…
