Everton fans have been calling for Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial be suspended retroactively.

Toffees attacker Oumar Niasse was suspended two games last season for a dive, a rare move from the Premier League.

Everton caretaker boss at the time David Unsworth said the case should set a precedent (via BBC Sport), but it has barely been implemented since.

At the weekend, United forward Martial won a penalty at Old Trafford in a 2-1 win over Everton.

Everton supporters felt that Martial exaggerated the contact made by Idrissa Gueye, and the Frenchman should face punishment.

This sort of inconsistency infuriates supporters, and makes an already controversial decision over Niasse look more frustrating with hindsight from an Everton perspective.
