Everton’s Gylfi Sigurdsson has struggled at Goodison Park, ever since joining from Swansea City.

Everton fans have slated Gylfi Sigurdsson’s display against Apollon Limassol in the Europa League last night, but they do not believe the Icelandic international is at fault for his poor form.

Sigurdsson was brought to Everton from Swansea City in a record breaking deal for the Merseyside club during the summer transfer window.

However, the Icelandic international has made a slow start at Goodison Park, and still seems to be searching to find his best level.

Sigurdsson was well off the pace last night, as Everton could only manage a 2-2 draw with their Cypriot opponents.

But Everton fans appear to feel that Ronald Koeman’s failure to play Sigurdsson behind the striker, in his most natural position, is harming the former Tottenham Hotspur man.

Sigurdsson’s expensive price-tag means that he carries a certain weight of expectation, and patience is wearing thin.

Everton need to start improving their performances, after what has been a highly disappointing start to the new campaign.

The Toffees are next in action this weekend, when they take on Burnley, and only a victory will suffice in front of an expectant Goodison Park crowd.
