While some fans will normally cross their fingers when a managerial job comes up at another club that their own boss does not get poached, Everton supporters have had an interesting reaction to the news that West Brom have parted company with Alan Pardew.

The writing appeared to be on the wall for Pardew long before the Easter weekend. The Baggies have been adrift at the bottom of the Premier League table for a while now and their loss to Burnley at the weekend was their ninth consecutive defeat in all competitions.

They now sit 10 points off safety with just six games remaining, and anyone would be forgiven for simply writing off any hope West Brom had of pulling themselves away from danger.

But Everton fans appear to believe that there could be a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel for the Baggies – provided that they now appoint Sam Allardyce as their next manager, and do it quickly.

Allardyce has never won over the majority of the Toffees fans and their season looks set to fizzle out with an uninspiring mid-table finish – that some fans may argue reflects the brand of football that has been on show since Big Sam arrived at Goodison Park earlier in the campaign.

It is unclear what the future holds for Allardyce, but a number of Everton supporters would seemingly be more than happy for the former England boss to leave his post immediately to try and rescue his former club.
