Everton’s lack of an attacking outlet was highlighted brilliantly by Danny Murphy on Match of the Day 2 this week.

So often against Manchester United, Everton found themselves in promising counter-attacking positions, only to be quickly penned back in with no real pace or width to escape.

But Toffees fans think they have found a solution in the shape of Oumar Niasse – a player who is yet to feature competitively under Ronald Koeman’s reign as manager.

The Roberto Martinez signing – who set Everton back around £16 million in January of last year, according to Transfermarkt – impressed on loan to Hull during the second half of last season, and has scored three goals in two outings for the Toffees’ Under-23s this campaign.

Such is the desperation of some Everton fans to see Niasse given a chance against Sunderland on Wednesday, they have been tweeting Koeman’s personal account in numbers.

And after the 27-year-old was left out of Monday’s Under-23s’ fixture, it’s possible they could be about to get their wish…
