Everton released some news on the status of the midfielder earlier this afternoon.

Everton fans have been left delighted after a positive update from the club on the condition of Andre Gomes.

The Portuguese international suffered a horror leg injury in action against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend and had to undergo surgery in the aftermath.

However, the club have now confirmed on Twitter that he’s been discharged from hospital and will now begin rehabilitation under the care of the Everton medical staff.

The Telegraph reported on Monday that there’s no chance of him playing again this season but that he is expected to make a full recovery following the successful procedure.

Gomes’ injury visibly distressed both his teammates and the opposition during the Premier League encounter. Fans were also left waiting anxiously on any news about his recovery.

The Portuguese has been a key member of Marco Silva’s team this season, appearing in eight of their 11 matches to date in the top-flight.

No doubt he’ll find a way back into the starting eleven when he returns to action at some point next year.

It’ll require a strong mentality to go through the rehabilitation process but surrounded by good staff, caring teammates and supportive fans, he has every chance of coming back as strong as ever.
