Everton fans have called for Wilmar Barrios to be snapped up, following links with the defensive midfielder recently.

According to TyC Sport, Everton are on the hunt for Barrios, who has recently excelled at the World Cup with Colombia.

Marco Silva’s side are having to compete with a host of other clubs for the tough-tackling midfielder.

And Everton supporters appear to be hoping that their side come out on top in the race for his signature.

Barrios reportedly has a £15.9 million release clause at Boca Juniors, and looks likely to move on this summer.

He could add significant power and energy to Everton’s midfield ranks, if he was to sign.

The 24-year-old would be in competition with the likes of Idrissa Gueye, Tom Davies and Morgan Schneiderlin at Goodison Park.

Everton are yet to make a signing this summer, with Marco Silva still assessing his current options.
