Everton are reportedly among the clubs considering a £25million move to sign Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White this summer after a successful loan at Sheffield United – a player that Gary Lineker was full of praise for in 2018.
Gibbs-White, 22, joined Sheffield United on loan last season and played a crucial part in Paul Heckingbottom’s side. The England Under-21 star was crucial in their run to the play-offs, clocking up 22 goal involvements in 37 games.
Reports this week say that Everton are among his admirers this summer, as he returns to Molineux. He has two years remaining on his contract with Bruno Lage’s side a summer exit could be on the cards for the midfielder.

Everton want to sign him, and ex-Toffees striker Lineker is a big fan. Back in 2018, after an assist during a 2-1 win for Wolves against Chelsea – Lineker heaped praise on the attacking midfielder, telling fans to “remember that name”.
“What a performance from that young man making his first start. We’ve seen glimpses of him. Morgan Gibbs-White, remember that name, what a talent,” Lineker said, during analysis on Match of the Day four years ago.

It would be a smart move from Everton. However, the price tag Wolves have placed on the midfielder’s head is excessive. Is Gibbs-White a top talent with huge potential? Yes. Is he worth as much as £25million? Probably not.
He could easily reach that level but that is the risk associated with any potential deal. The weight of such a price tag, especially with Everton’s finances a bit all over the place, would weigh heavy on the Englishman’s shoulders.
Everton do have options in that area of the pitch. Anthony Gordon is a target for Tottenham and Newcastle, but he remains at Goodison Park – as does Dele Alli, who was bought from Tottenham in January.
