Everton are closing in on Dwight McNeil with Burnley boss Vincent Kompany admitting that conversations have been held about a potential deal.

The Toffees added their second signing of the summer on Wednesday, confirming the arrival of left back Ruben Vinagre from Sporting.

Add VInagre’s loan deal to the addition of free agent James Tarkowski and Everton’s summer business has certainly been on a budget.

Now though, it looks like Everton are ready to spend some of the money received from selling Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur.

Everton are closing in on Dwight McNeil

This one seems to have moved very quickly, but Everton are now closing in on the signing of Burnley winger Dwight McNeil.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Everton are set to complete the deal after reaching a full agreement with Burnley.

The deal could reach £20million in the future and McNeil has already begun his medical with Everton ahead of finalising the move.

McNeil will now reunite with former Burnley teammates James Tarkowski and make an instant return to the Premier League.

McNeil, 22, suffered a very disappointing campaign last season as he registered just one assist and no goals in 38 Premier League outings.

The left-sided winger had though shown real promise before then, and a fresh start at Everton could be ideal for all.

Everton fans will be sat waiting to hear confirmation of McNeil’s move, but Burnley boss Vincent Kompany has given a pretty big hint.

Speaking to Sky Sports as Burnley prepare for their first game of the season against Huddersfield Town on Friday night, Kompany admitted that conversations were ongoing about McNeil’s future.

Kompany suggested that it would be a ‘wait and see’ policy on McNeil, but Everton appear to have landed their man after those conversations moved in the right direction.

“Dwight is another one, there has been a lot of conversations happening behind the scenes and those happen at a club level,” said Kompany. “It is one of those we will have to see how it develops,” he added.
