The midfielder has impressed whilst on loan with Everton this season.
Everton’s Director of Football Marcel Brands sat down for an exclusive interview with the Liverpool Echo, and provided an update on the future of Andre Gomes, insisting that a lot depends on what the player himself actually wants to do.
The Toffees were extremely busy during the summer transfer window, and Andre Gomes has arguably been the pick of the bunch, impressing for Marco Silva’s side every time that he has taken to the field.
The Portugal international possesses real class and quality. His ability when in possession and range of passing has helped Everton improve upon the fluidity of their play through the middle of the park.
Blues fans will surely be desperate for their club to sign the 25-year-old permanently in January, and Brands told the Liverpool Echo how the key to any potential deal lies permanently with the player himself:
“It is more depending on the player. After the January, we will talk, first, with the player and the key is with him. We are happy with him but you never know what is going to happen. The most important thing is that he wants to stay.”
Gomes will be available for somewhere in the region of €30 million (£27 million), according to Spanish media outlet Sport, and in today’s market, that would represent excellent value for money.
Whether the Portuguese ace will want to move to Everton permanently, however, remains to be seen.
