Steven Pienaar left Everton to join Sunderland last summer.
Everton defender Seamus Coleman has told the Premier League’s official website that he feels that Steven Pienaar is one of the best players he’s ever played alongside.
Pienaar was released by Everton last summer, after the Goodison Park club decided that he had no future on Merseyside.
The South African international ended up reuniting with former Everton boss David Moyes at Sunderland.
And Coleman admits that Pienaar always impressed him during the time that they were together with the Toffees.
“Steven Pienaar is one of the best players I’ve ever played with,” Coleman said.
“He made the game look so easy, and he loved nutmegging people in training. He did it to me loads of times and it’s annoying at first, but in the end you couldn’t help but laugh.”
Pienaar’s first-team opportunities at Everton became more limited towards the end of his time at the Merseyside club.
The attacking midfielder appeared to have lost a yard of pace, and he was struggling to get into the Toffees’ team ahead of the likes of Ross Barkley and Kevin Mirallas.
Since moving to Sunderland, Pienaar has been utilised fairly regularly by Moyes.
Pienaar has made 10 appearances for Sunderland to date, and he appears to have an important role to play for Moyes’ side, as they look to avoid relegation this season.
