The Blues captain was left on the bench in the recent win over Slovakia.
Everton’s Phil Jagielka
Everton captain Phil Jagielka has admitted to the club’s official website he was frustrated not to feature in England’s win over Slovakia.
The defender was selected in Sam Allardyce’s first England squad for the game last week.
He spent the game sat on the bench though as the new Three Lions boss opted for a central defensive pairing of John Stones and Gary Cahill.
They kept a clean sheet in the game as a late goal from Adam Lallana sealed a 1-0 victory in a largely frustrating display.

And Jagielka has admitted that despite the positive result, in the end, he was frustrated to not get any game time.
“It was good to get a last-minute win and meant we made a good start to our qualifying campaign,” he told the club’s official website.
“Personally, it was a bit frustrating not to get any game time but it is always nice to be called up by your country.”

It will be interesting to see if Jagielka does have an international future under Sam Allardyce.
He has set his stall out early in regards to John Stones, and the major question moving forward is who will partner him in the position.
Given Jagielka’s age, it seems unlikely that he will be the long-term choice, and there is every chance he will face more international frustration in future.
