On-loan Everton defender Eliaquim Mangala could be ruled out for the rest of the season.

On-loan Everton defender Eliaquim Mangala has posted on Instagram after undergoing surgery to correct the knee injury he suffered against Crystal Palace earlier this month.
The 27-year-old was withdrawn in the 44th minute of Everton’s 3-1 win over Roy Hodgson’s Palace amid fears that he could be ruled out for the rest of the season with the problem.

Everton boss Sam Allardyce was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying that he is unsure how long the Manchester City loanee will be sidelined for, stating: “It’s a difficult thing to assess just how long it will take, whether it’s longer or not”.
The former Porto defender, though, is fully focused on his recovery after posting a picture on Instagram in a hospital gown after going under the knife. He did not put a timescale on his recovery, but is ready to “get to work” on his rehabilitation.
A January deadline-day loan signing, Mangala was brought to Goodison Park with Allardyce looking for the City defender to shore up his Toffees back line during the second half of the season.
However, he managed just two appearances for the Merseyside club before suffering the injury and it now remains to be seen if he can recover in time to feature for the Toffees again before the end of the season.
