Everton are considering several options in the market as they look to bring in a new striker.

Scoring has been a major issue for Everton in the opening half of the season, with neither forward making much of an impact.

David Moyes has mostly relied on Thierno Barry, but if Everton are going to make real progress, they will need more from that position.

To address this, Everton have made an initial loan offer for Youssef En-Nesyri.

Still, the Moroccan forward is not the only player Everton are looking at as the January window approaches its final weeks.

One of those targets may no longer be available after sharing his preference for where he wants to go next.

Earlier in the month, there were reports linking Everton with an interest in Tammy Abraham, currently on loan at Besiktas.

But the striker may no longer be a target for director of football Angus Kinnear.

Abraham has now made it clear that he wants to return to Aston Villa this month, according to The Times.

It is understood that Villa are preparing to offer him a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Several other Premier League clubs had shown interest, but Abraham’s preference is now well known.

Out of form at West Ham, Callum Wilson is also a target for Everton as Moyes and the Blues’ recruitment team appear focused on bringing in players with Premier League experience before the window closes.

Why Everton are not expected to sign a striker this January

There have not been any signs of big spending yet, and fans probably should not expect much movement before the window closes.

The Friedkin Group, which backed Moyes after a productive summer window, do not appear to be planning a big outlay this month.

Instead, Everton seem to be focusing on the summer for any major additions.

While that approach may pay off in the long run, injuries have piled up enough that some immediate reinforcements would not go amiss.

Even one fresh signing would feel like a boost given how quiet things have been so far.
