Everton are reportedly closing in on a major coup to finally end their left-back woes, by luring Lucas Digne to Goodison Park this summer – and Marco Silva could add a new left winger to the signing of Digne.

The Toffees desperately need a new left-back with Leighton Baines getting older and reportedly interesting a handful of Premier League and MLS clubs. His calf injury last term saw Cuco Martina play out of position.

The Mirror claim Everton are closing in on the £22million signing of France international Digne, who has managed just 29 league appearances in the last two years at Barcelona due to the presence of Jordi Alba.

Now, reports suggest that Silva is looking to add a new left winger to his side in order to give The Toffees a completely new-look left flank. The player they reportedly have in mind would combine perfectly with Digne.

Spanish newspaper Marca claim Everton want Russia’s World Cup hero Denis Cheryshev, after he scored four goals for the 2018 hosts as they defied odds to reach the quarter finals of the competition.

Cheryshev, 27, is well down the pecking order at current side Villarreal and a move could well be on the cards, after he made just nine league starts last term.

That could see The Toffees line up with a new-look left flank in Digne and Cheryshev, and the combination of the two sides would take Everton to the next level and potentially qualify for European football.

Indeed, they are a huge improvement on Baines and Yannick Bolasie, and if Silva wants to target the top six this season, combining the duo would help Everton go a long way into achieving that.
