Everton and Liverpool have always had one of the biggest rivalries in English football on the pitch, but last month, the Reds actually got the better of the Toffees in the transfer market.

Indeed, just months after the Goodison Park outfit were reportedly closing in on the signing of Luis Diaz from Porto, he was posing in a Liverpool shirt after securing a £37m move to Anfield.

The Colombian has started brightly on Merseyside, and we can imagine that some Everton fans are fuming at the fact their summer target is now flourishing for their biggest rivals.

Luckily though, the Toffees may have a route to getting their own back on Liverpool.

Indeed, Frank Lampard’s side are now being linked with a move for Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma, and he’s apparently a player Liverpool have been very keen on.

Fabrizio Romano even claimed that Liverpool ‘love’ Danjuma in the lead-up to the January window, but due to his high pricetag, they didn’t make the move.

Now, it sounds as though he’s an option for Everton, and if the Toffees do land the Dutchman, they could be getting an even better player than Diaz.

Danjuma may not have scored as many league goals as Diaz this term, but he’s been performing to a very high standard in a better league, while he does actually have two more Champions League goals than his Colombian counterpart.

Liverpool may have snatched Diaz from Everton, but revenge is a dish best served cold, and Danjuma could be the perfect way for Everton to get a bit of transfer market vengeance on their biggest rivals.
