Everton could reportedly sign player who was proud of tackling Mo Salah

Everton are reportedly keen on signing a player who did what few before him have managed and that is to keep Liverpool’s Mo Salah quiet.

According to Sky Sports News, Everton are close to finalising a deal to sign Chelsea centre-back Fikayo Tomori on a season-long loan.

The 22-year-old had an excellent first season in the Premier League last term, despite not being picked for any of the matches when football resumed in June.

And going by his previous performance against Liverpool, the Toffees could be signing one heck of a talent.

The Reds won 2-1 at Stamford Bridge last September but it was one of Salah’s most dismal displays for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

One big reason for that was Tomori, who kept the Egypt international relatively quiet for the most part.

And there’s one moment which sticks out for the Canadian-born stalwart, when he had the home fans on their feet for a firm challenge on Salah.

He told Versus in November of last year: “I remember in that game my dad was in the crowd and I made a tackle on Salah where I went firm, but fair, won the ball and everyone at Stamford Bridge was cheering! I just looked up and saw my dad cheering – that was a crazy moment for me.

“I remember him going on last season about how good Salah, Mane and Firmino all were in the Champions League and then in that moment, I was like “I’ve just tackled Mo Salah and he just saw it”…yeah, that was a good moment!”

Tomori is clearly very proud of that moment – and for good reason.

But his confidence will have surely taken a knock after being shifted out of the first-team picture earlier this summer, but Everton have a certain Carlo Ancelotti at the helm, a three-time Champions League winner, and the veteran Italian has the man-management and coaching skills to have him shackle more Premier League stars this season, if a transfer happens.
