Everton manager Frank Lampard is now reportedly about to miss out on the signing of Tottenham Hotspur central defender Joe Rodon.

Tottenham defender Joe Rodon linked with Rennes

According to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook – as transcribed by TheBootRoom – in June, Everton manager Lampard personally wants to sign Rodon from Premier League rivals Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old central defender is a regular for Wales, but the former Swansea City star has struggled to make an impact at Tottenham.

Rodon has huge potential, and we think that a move to Everton would help him and the Toffees.

The 24-year-old has made only 15 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

Going on loan to Rennes

However, it seems that the Welshman is on his way to France to play for Rennes.

Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Rennes are set to sign Rodon on loan from Tottenham.

The deal is in the final stages, according to the well-known and well-respected journalist, who has added that it will include an option to buy for €20 million (£16.75 million).

Rennes are a big and ambitious club in France, and it would be quite an experience for Rodon to play in Ligue 1.
