Everton are reportedly interested in signing the Manchester United goalkeeper this summer.
According to a recent report from the print edition of the Sunday People (11/06/2017 page 56) Everton are interested in signing Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson, and this could be one deal the Toffees can be quietly confident of securing given the presence of another brilliant young stopper at Old Trafford.
Everyone knows about David de Gea, but fewer are aware of 20-year-old Portuguese ‘keeper Joel Pereira, who has all the attributes to be a future number one at United.
The youngster will know the importance of patience but his presence could mean Henderson is stuck for opportunities of his own, especially when you consider how highly United manager Jose Mourinho rates the former, giving him his first-team debut against Crystal Palace this season.
Also aged 20, Henderson is fresh off the back of England’s U20 World Cup triumph and he will not want to be playing second, third or fourth fiddle for too much longer.
For that reason Everton should consider a bid if they really are interested, because with De Gea, Pereira and Sergio Romero ahead of him in the pecking order, Henderson has no chance of breaking through at United any time soon.
Everton are in need of a new ‘keeper and it is whether Toffees boss Ronald Koeman would be brave enough to throw him in at the deep end from the outset.
It has worked for young stoppers in the past, and this is one target Everton have a realistic chance of securing if they act quickly enough.
