Everton confirm Manasse Mampala has signed his first professional contract

Everton youngster Manasse Mampala has put pen to paper on his first professional contract at Goodison Park.

Everton have confirmed they have rewarded youngster Manasse Mampala with his first professional deal after an exciting season in 2017/18 with the U18s.

The 17-year-old DR Congo forward made waves by scoring 11 times and laying on six assists for teammates in 18 appearances in the U18 Premier League, and is one of the Toffees’ brightest young prospects.

So good were some of Mampala’s performances, that he even managed to get called up to the U23s towards the end of the season where he made a couple of appearances for David Unsworth’s side.

Speaking about his new deal, he told Everton’s official website: “It feels great to sign the contract and I’m just delighted the hard work I’ve put in has paid off.

“Everton is big club and it feels like everybody is together here. There are real positive vibes around place. I’ve felt it ever since I joined here at Under-16 level. And it’s not just the players but the coaches and staff, too. Everyone gets on really well, it’s a great atmosphere and it helps you develop as a player.

“Last season was good for me and it was great to get a couple of games for the Under-23s – hopefully I can play more games for them and score some goals.”

The future appears bright for Mampala, who cites Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and fellow countryman Yannick Bolasie as his role models, and the starlet is keen to continue his development.

He will take heart from the fact that in recent seasons youth has been given a chance at Goodison Park, with Mason Holgate, Tom Davies, Jonjoe Kenny, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Matthew Pennington having featured for the first team.
