Leeds linked defender one of the players hailed by Everton under-23 boss.

Everton coach David Unsworth has hailed defender Matthew Pennington after his latest under-23 performance.
Unsworth remains at Everton despite speculation linking him with another loan move to Leeds United.

Pennington played at the weekend for Everton’s under-23 side against Chelsea, a game which ended a 1-1 draw.
Unsworth picked out Pennington as one of the team’s most impressive performers.
He told Everton’s official website: “I thought Joe Williams and the two centre-halves, Matty Pennington and Tyias Browning, were immense, absolutely outstanding.”

Pennington has little prospect of playing for Everton this season, with Yerry Mina and Kurt Zouma (loan) signed by the club on deadline day.
He did sign a new contract in the summer, and he needs to go out on loan to progress his career.
He showed promise at Leeds last season before injury hampered his progress, and playing in a team devoid of confidence did not help either in the second half of the season.
