Everton’s Phil Jagielka reckons his teammate Jordan Pickford can kick on from his World Cup heroics in the new season.

Pickford was the hero of the hour in Tuesday’s World Cup last-16 match with Colombia after denying Carlos Bacca in the penalty shootout, allowing Eric Dier to convert the winning kick to send the Three Lions through to the quarters-finals.
Every Love Island contestant if they were an England international: World Cup!
Pickford has been a safe pair of hands for most of the tournament, and he produced a world-class save in Moscow from Matias Aribe’s long-distance volley.

Unfortunately the resulting corner led to an equalising goal from Yerry Mina, but Pickford has since come in for high praise for that particularly incredible stop.
It would seem the Everton star is very much on top of his game right now, after a fine season between the sticks at Goodison Park last season.
Where most of his teammates under-performed, Pickford was fairly consistent and was a unanimous winner at the club’s end of season awards ceremony, and captain Jagielka expects him to reach new levels next term following his showing with England.

As quoted by Everton’s official website, he said: “We are having group chats and the boys have been sending him ‘well done’ messages. He knows he has the support of everyone at Everton. He will be on cloud nine at the moment and hopefully will be there for as long as possible.
“It is great and he wants to keep going and going. He will come back raring to go and wanting to keep this form going. He had a fantastic season for us and will be looking to build on that.”
