Dortmund are reportedly the latest club mulling over a summer move for Malaga hotshot Sandro Ramirez – meaning Everton face a challenge.
Everton have made no secret of their ambition to challenge at the top of the Premier League in the coming seasons. And while the club’s transfer activity has not exactly reflected their desire to earn a place at the top table of the European game, they may have an opportunity to demonstrate their pulling power this summer.
According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund have identified Sandro Ramirez as a potential transfer target this summer – especially with star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hardly easing fears over his future by reiterating his dream to play for Real Madrid at every given opportunity.
Malaga forward Sandro would certainly fit Dortmund’s style. Capable of playing through the middle or out on the left, the 21-year-old is an emphatic finisher while blessed with innate vision and the ability to create as well as score.
Since being harshly released by Barcelona last summer, he has netted 12 La Liga goals for an otherwise blunt Malaga outfit. And, with a buyout clause in his contract set at a bargain £5 million, it’s no surprise that Everton, as well as the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Southampton, have been linked (The Sun).
Therefore, beating Dortmund, regular Champions League contenders who will once again feature in Europe’s premiere club competition next season, would be a major indication of Everton’s ambitions – ones highlighted by chairman Bill Kenwright at the club’s yearly Dixie awards on Tuesday.
“If there is a player who wants to play for Everton Football Club who [manager] Ronald [Koeman] wants, who [director of football] Steve [Walsh] wants, we will get them for you,” Kenwright said, as reported by the Liverpool Echo. “It’s fantastic for me to be able to say that.”
