Carlo Ancelotti is hopeful that the addition of Joshua King will ‘complete the squad’ at Everton, as far as attacking options go.

The Toffees strengthened their strike force on transfer deadline day by signing the former Bournemouth hitman on a six-month deal.

King also had an option to join Fulham, but the 29-year-old, who is the Cherries’ record goalscorer in the Premier League, instead elected to sign for Everton.

He made his debut in the 2-1 win away to Leeds United on Wednesday night, earning a three-minute cameo toward the end.

And Ancelotti feels that a player of his versatility is the missing piece of the jigsaw for the Goodison Park outfit.

Ancelotti told BT Sport, after the victory at Elland Road: “Joshua King is going to complete the squad in front, he can play everywhere – front, right, centre.”

Last night’s win has taken Ancelotti’s side to within four points of Merseyside rivals Liverpool, who occupy the fourth and final Champions League qualification spot.

Finishing in the top four would cap a wonderful first full season for the legendary Italian coach at Everton and adding a player like King – who has 48 goals in 162 Premier League outings – can only aid their push to reach Europe’s elite competition.
