Everton have been said to be after Sunderland defender Lamine Kone.

Sam Allardyce, Manager of Everton looks on prior to the Premier League match between Everton and Swansea City at Goodison Park on December 18, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Everton boss Sam Allardyce has told the Liverpool Echo that he has no interest in signing Lamine Kone from Sunderland.

The Daily Mirror have linked Kone with a move to Everton in the January transfer window, with Sunderland said to have offered Allardyce the chance to sign the centre-back for £10m.

Kone had a great spell of success under Allardyce’s management, when the pair linked up at Sunderland earlier in their respective careers.

However, Allardyce admits that Kone’s form has dropped since he left the Stadium of Light, and he no longer has an interest in signing the Ivorian.

“No, not at the moment,” Allardyce said, when asked if he wanted Kone.

“Not at the moment. What a shock that came up?

“He was one of the outstanding defenders and produced a remarkable run of performances at Sunderland. Since then I’m not sure what has happened, so that puts a doubt and I’m not sure I’d be interested.”

Kone has never recaptured the form he showed under Allardyce since the Everton boss left Wearside, and his recent performances have been poor.

Kone has not featured since Coleman took charge, with the defender seemingly having no future at Sunderland.

The Black Cats need to raise funds in January to allow them to make additions, and Kone could be let go.

However, even though Everton are thought to want a centre-back, it does not look like Kone will be arriving at Goodison Park any time soon.
