Everton boss Sam Allardyce makes claim about West Ham United supporters

West Ham United moved to the London Stadium two years ago, in what was a controversial move.

Everton boss Sam Allardyce has told the Daily Mirror that he does not believe West Ham United supporters would be moaning about their move away from Upton Park, if they were playing winning football.

West Ham’s switch to the London Stadium has come in for fierce criticism, with many Hammers supporters not enjoying watching football at their new ground.

But Allardyce claims that West Ham fans are simply frustrated because they have not been successful since moving.

The Hammers have had to battle against relegation for the past two seasons.

And Allardyce claims that Everton, just like West Ham, need a new stadium to progress.

“I think with West Ham if they had a winning team and was competing with the top six or seven, then certainly for West Ham their stadium wouldn’t matter,” he said.

“A new stadium at Everton is the right thing to do and the right way forward to try to achieve everybody’s desire, particularly the fans.

“With it you give the fans a better chance that this club can then compete in Europe and maybe one day even compete and get in the top four, and into the Champions’ League.

“I think if Everton go to a new stadium competing in the top six or seven or even greater, then it will give more of a chance of getting towards where the fans want to go.”

Allardyce’s comments may not go down well with West Ham supporters, who simply haven’t taken to the London Stadium.

At Upton Park there was a hostile atmosphere, with the supporters so close to the pitch.

But West Ham’s supporters have been unable to re-create the same sort of noise levels since moving to the London Stadium.

West Ham confirmed their survival in the Premier League at the weekend, when they beat Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
