Everton’s Wayne Rooney has regularly been substituted off since Sam Allardyce took charge at Goodison Park.
Allardyce has picked Rooney regularly since taking charge at Goodison Park, but is yet to play the 32-year-old for 90 minutes.
Rooney has regularly been taken off in the latter stages of Everton matches, with Allardyce looking to use fresh legs.
And although Allardyce insists he is making the change with Rooney’s best interest at heart, he admits that England’s record scorer isn’t always best pleased with the decision.
“I wouldn’t say he was that happy with me. He’s never happy, Wayne! But he’s a great professional.
“He’s had a huge career hasn’t he, but he’s only 32, not in his mid 30s. Looking after yourself a different way when you go into your mid-30s is what it is all about now.”
Rooney has been in wonderful form at Everton lately, with the summer signing scoring regularly.
Rooney has been stationed in an attacking midfield role by Allardyce, and has thrived in the position.
Rooney now has netted 10 goals in 16 Premier League appearances for Everton, with six of these strikes coming in his last five games.
Everton are still unbeaten in all competitions since Allardyce took charge, and have now moved up into 9th place in the Premier League table.
