Everton manager Koeman has discussed why he does not live in Liverpool city centre.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman has revealed that he does not live in Liverpool city centre as he feels it is best for a manager to live outside the city to remained focused on his job, as reported by Liverpool Echo.
The way in which Koeman has transformed his Everton side has captured the hearts of Toffees fans around the world, and his introduction seems to have given the club a new lease of life following a disappointing end to Roberto Martinez’s reign.
The only thing he has not settled on is living in Liverpool, and the Dutchman explained his decision during the club’s rescheduled awards evening.
Koeman currently lives in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, while his brother and assistant manager Erwin lives directly in the middle of the city.
The 53-year-old has claimed that his reasoning behind living outside of the city is so that he can focus on the task at hand, which is ensuring that Everton make it back into Europe.
When Koeman was asked if he had settled in the area, he said, via the Echo: “Not really in the city of Liverpool, maybe for an assistant manager it is not a problem.
“Maybe I like to stay outside of the city.
“In my position it is better to stay outside and focus on your job.”
The 40-mile drive will not be considered too much of an issue for Everton fans, especially considering their strong start to the season. It is clear for all to see that whilst he may not live as close to Goodison as his brother, he has certainly made a strong connection with supporters.
The Toffees’ next game comes this weekend in what could prove to be a tricky trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley.
