Tom Davies shone for Everton in their recent 4-0 victory over Manchester City.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman has told the Daily Mirror that he focused on where Tom Davies needed to improve, after the youngster impressed against Manchester City.
Davies was given widespread praise after he really announced himself on the big stage, through his showing against City.
The 18-year-old shone in midfield, as Everton picked up a 4-0 victory over Pep Guardiola’s side.
Davies claimed an assist and then scored a magnificent individual goal, but Koeman did not want the youngster to get carried away.
Instead, the Dutch boss focused on where Davies had gone wrong, to ensure that he learnt from the experience.
“The great thing about a young talent like Tom Davies is that the fans immediately take to them,” Koeman said.
“Against City we finished the game with three players aged 18, 19 and 20 in the side.
“We won 4-0 and yet after that we sat down with Tom Davies to show him on video where he could improve.
“Why? I did not need to tell him what he had done right. The whole world had told him that after the game.
“He needed to learn what he could improve.”
Davies appears to have forced his way into Everton’s first-team, after a brilliant start to life in the senior squad at Goodison Park.
The youngster has even managed to keep January signing Morgan Schneiderlin out of the starting line-up so far, through his impressive showings.
Davies is expected to feature for the Toffees, when they take on Stoke City on the BET365 Stadium on Wednesday evening.
