The Everton striker has struggled since moving to Merseyside in January last year.

Everton boss Marco Silva spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference today, and shared what he told under-fire striker Cenk Tosun when he returned from international duty with Turkey yesterday, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

The 27-year-old joined the Toffees from Besiktas in January 2018, for around £27 million, but he has struggled to establish himself at Goodison Park, scoring just seven goals in 39 appearances in all competitions thus far.

He has only scored two Premier League goals this season, but he received a much needed boost earlier this week, bagging a brace for Turkey during their 4-0 win over Moldova on Monday night.

And Everton manager Silva shared with reporters how he told Tosun how important it is for him to keep scoring goals, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo:

“I know he is ready if I decide to start with him or if I decide to put him in during the match. It is most important for his confidence. I spoke with him yesterday about how important it is for him to score goals. I am sure Tosun will be more confident.”

Everton face a trip to east London to take on West Ham tomorrow, and Tosun will be hoping for a chance to prove to his manager and the club’s fans that he still has what it takes to be a success in the Premier League.
