Everton have made six signings since Marco Silva took charge at Goodison Park.

Marco Silva has told the Liverpool Echo that he made it very clear to Marcel Brands that any signing which Everton make needs to improve their first-team.

Brands has already earned praise for the business he has done at Goodison Park.

But Silva insists that he was under instruction to bring in players who could immediately impact on Everton’s starting line-up.

“I was clear with Marcel (Brands), with our board, with our owners and with our chairman, that to sign somebody we have to be clear that they are coming here to improve us – and for the positions that we really need,” he said.

“We cannot sign 11 players. It is not our way and it doesn’t make sense in my opinion to come in and try and change everything in one month or two months. We have to go step by step.”

Everton made six signings during the summer transfer window, and many of the new additions have already impressed.

Richarlison, Bernard and Lucas Digne are already all playing key roles for Everton, while Kurt Zouma has also featured regularly.

Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina are also set to play for Everton soon, with the pair edging closer to full fitness.

Everton’s next match comes against Crystal Palace this weekend.
