Everton beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 at Hillsborough last night.
Everton had raced into a 2-0 lead at Hillsborough last night, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin blasting his side in front.
The goals were crucial, as they helped to relieve some of the pressure on the Toffees, after their poor start to the season, and seriously boosted confidence.
Silva was not content to see his side sitting on their lead though and stressed at half-time that they needed to go out and kill the match off.
“They had that chance in the first moment but it was a very good save from Jordan but we were the best team throughout the first-half, created more chances, Dominic and Richarlison with chances,” Silva said.
“At half-time we spoke about scoring the third goal was quickly as possible to kill the game. You know that winning 2-0 is a little bit dangerous. We tried to control more of the game with the ball.
“We controlled the game, I don’t remember too many chances for them, we will play in the next round and that was the most important thing for us.”
Everton never managed to get a third goal, but they did hold on to their advantage by keeping a clean sheet.
Silva’s men looked comfortable as they picked up what was a massively important victory.
Everton had come under serious pressure following their defeat to Sheffield United last weekend, with concerns rising about their initial performances this term.
The Toffees are currently in 14th place in the Premier League table, and they face a tough test at the weekend, when they take on champions Manchester City at Goodison Park.
