The Everton midfielder has been linked with an exit from the club this month.
Everton boss Marco Silva addressed the media today during his pre-match press conference, and responded when asked whether Idrissa Gueye is close to leaving Goodison Park for Paris Saint-Germain, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
The 29-year-old joined the Toffees from Aston Villa in the summer of 2016 for around £7 million, and he has gone on to be a real hit at the club, making 94 appearances in all competitions in the process.
The Senegal international has been linked with a move away from Everton this month, however, with French media outlet L’Equipe claiming that PSG have made an opening offer worth £22 million for the midfield ace.
Silva seemed to quash those rumours, however, when speaking to reporters today, insisting that the Toffees have received no formal approaches for Gana as yet this month, as quoted by the Daily Mail:
“For us it is new (claims of personal terms). We don’t have an offer. Not one club has made one offer to Gana. Of course I spoke with him but he is working to give his best for the club. No offers to us and there is nothing more to say about that.”
There is still just over a week remaining until the transfer window slams shut, however, so a lot can happen between now and then.
If Everton do end up selling Gana, though, Silva has to bring in an abled boded replacement for the 29-year-old, or risk severely weakening his team.
