Everton boss Marco Silva has suggested to the Liverpool Echo that he is open to bringing in experienced players, if needs be.

Marcel Brands has claimed that Everton are on the hunt for younger players as they look to reduce the average age of their squad.

And while Silva agrees with Everton’s head of transfers, the Portuguese boss insists that it doesn’t mean that the Toffees won’t be open to bringing in some older heads, if the opportunity is there.

“To spend an big, big, big amount it is better to spend like we spent on Richarlison, on Mina, on Lucas. The players you can see who have five or six years to play at our club or you make some profit, whatever can happen,” Silva said.

“Sometimes we will have a target, aged 24, but you cannot get him so you have to change a little bit.

“But when Marcel spoke, he spoke about our general idea, for sure.”

Everton worked well in the transfer market last summer, with most their signings being big successes.

The additions of the likes of Richarlison, Lucas Digne, Bernard and Andre Gomes have unquestionably improved Everton’s squad, with the quartet all impressing this term.

Everton are expected to invest again at the end of the term, as they look to kick on.

The Toffees are currently in ninth place in the Premier League, and they appear to be making a late push to claim seventh spot.
