Everton manager Koeman has stated that he is different to Manchester City boss Guardiola.
Everton’s manager Ronald Koeman has stated that he and Pep Guardiola are different from one another in terms of how they like to play the game, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
Koeman and Guardiola are no strangers to one another after spending years in each other’s company during their time at Barcelona.
In the lead-up to the game the Dutchman spoke about the things he taught the Spaniard during their time there, with the media being fascinated with the relationship between the two.
The two sides shared the points in an entertaining 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, and Koeman believes that his style is vastly in contrast with the decorated Spaniard.
“If you watch the Celtic game, if you watch the Tottenham game, and both teams had an unbelievable pressing to City and then still built up,” Koeman explained via the Liverpool Echo.
“Tottenham, on the ball, were fantastic and did not make any mistakes in building up because the transition in attack is maybe City’s biggest quality.
“That is what Pep likes to do always – try and build up even when it is difficult. I am a little bit different than that. I prefer to play the long ball.
Guardiola has so far enjoyed great success wherever he has gone, with the teams from his time at Barcelona and Bayern Munich being lauded as some of the best ever.
Regardless of that, the important thing for the 45-year-old over the next few weeks will be to get his Manchester City side back on track following the disappointing defeat to Tottenham and the two points dropped against the Toffees.
